We are Martha Jane & The Talisman

 

An Amsterdam based band. Our spirit speaks the tongues of art, music & freedom.  The music is raw and groovy. Its fantasy will make you wonder. Creatures in your mind dance themselves into a ecstatic trance.

Country grunge drenched in Blues with a touch of voodoo

 

Last year we released our first Martha Jane & the Talisman album "Hello Demon". On April 6 2018 you can expect our brand new EP "LOVE SPELLS".

On October 12016, Martha Jane & the Talisman  released the band’s debut album Hello Demon.

The album is produced by sound guru Attie Bauw (a.o. De Staat, Raccoon, Judas Priest, The Scorpions) and recorded in the Bullet Sound Studios (NL).

The collective wish of the band and Attie was to make an album that would not yield to the usual production hurries, but with an eye for detail and an old school production.

And they succeeded! In the studio there was time for abundant experimenting. Ideas and songs received time to mature and flourish. 

The result is a wayward, mystical and raw record: an alternative mix of blues, grunge and country music. Musically the band is inspired by The Black Keys, Tom Waits, Jack White, PJ Harvey and Nirvana on one hand and on the other hand by Lee Dorsey, Otis Redding, Nina Simone en Ike & Tina Turner.

May 29:  We made a nice live compilation to catch the atmosphere in P60, Amstelveen, during our burning set.

Martha Jane & the Talisman puts embers in the hair of the crowd. They started to burn and stomp their feet...that's how they got this voodoo hairdo in return! This fall Martha Jane & the Talisman is grooving at your town...so stay tuned!
Martha Jane & the Talisman starts with their new song "Some Good Advice" and watch where the song is taking the band and the audience. Put on your dancing shoes!

April: We're playing live with Mark and Sun Mi. Check out our brand new song "SOME GOOD ADVICE", played live @ De Taverne in Bergen.
